Volunteering at the San Diego Food Bank is a great team-building experience for groups of various sizes. Whether you are a large corporation or a small club, your group will work together on a hands-on project for the hungry. If you have a group of less than five, each volunteer should register as an individual. As long as you sign up for the same date and shift time, you will still get to work together.
Middle And High School Group Volunteers
Middle and high school student groups are welcome to volunteer at the Food Bank.
Volunteering at our warehouse provides students with an opportunity to give back to the community and learn first-hand about hunger and hunger prevention.
Only one contact person is required to register a school group for a volunteer visit. All school groups must have the appropriate ratio of chaperones to students (4 students for every 1 adult).
Elementary School Tours
Due to health and safety issues, elementary school groups larger than 20 cannot be incorporated in volunteer activities. However, elementary school groups are encouraged to take a tour of the Food Bank warehouse to educate students about hunger and how the Food Bank serves our community.
If you would like to schedule a group tour, please contact Sandra Rabourne via email email@example.com or by phone 1-858-863-5142.
We would be happy to assist you in creating a customized visit.
For a group of five or more to sign up, please nominate ONE person to contact Xavier Hernandez via email at least one month in advance. Please have a few dates and shifts in mind, shifts fill up fast so your first choice may not be available . Please DO NOT register each individual volunteer. We only require the group leader’s name and the number of volunteers in your group.
The group leader must ensure that ALL members of the group print and sign the Volunteer waiver form before your group’s volunteer shift. Completed forms must be brought with you on the day of your visit.
