Food & Fund Drives

Host a Food Drive to Nourish San Diegans Facing Hunger

Food drives bring people together around a shared purpose: making sure our neighbors have access to the food they need. Whether you collect food in person or raise funds online, your support helps the San Diego Food Bank distribute food to families, seniors, and individuals across the county.

Two Ways to Host a Food Drive

Choose the option that fits your group and timeline — or consider combining both for the most reach.

Host an In-Person Food Drive

Collect food in person and rally your community around a shared goal.

An in-person food drive offers a hands-on way to engage your workplace, school, faith community, or neighborhood. You’ll collect nonperishable food items while helping raise awareness about hunger.

Great for:

  • Collecting food at a physical location over a set period of time
  • Engaging people face to face
  • Creating a visible, communitywide effort

Host a Virtual Food Drive

Raise funds online to help provide nutritious food, fast.

A virtual food drive allows you to support hunger-relief efforts without collecting physical food. Donations are made online and translated into food where it’s needed most, when it’s needed most.

Great for:

  • Reaching supporters beyond one location
  • Offering a flexible, easy way to give through a customizable donation page
  • Maximizing impact with fewer logistics

CREATE A VIRTUAL FOOD DRIVE

Looking to make the greatest impact? Many groups choose to run both kinds of food drives! Simply indicate your preference during the registration process.

Donate Nonperishable Food

Already have food to donate? Nonperishable food can be dropped off at one of our designated locations across the county.
