San Diego Food Bank to Host South Bay Emergency “Drive-Thru”
Food & Toilet Paper Distribution for 1,000 Vehicles
at Southwestern College at 9 a.m. on Friday, April 10

The San Diego Food Bank, in partnership with the City of Chula Vista, will host a large-scale “drive-thru” emergency food distribution for low-income families and seniors affected by the COVID-19 crisis in the South Bay. In order to follow social distancing guidelines, the food distribution will be “contactless.”

Attendees will remain in their cars with windows rolled up, and food/toilet paper will be placed directly in the trunk by volunteers.

The distribution is first come, first served – rain or shine. The Food Bank will have enough food supplies to serve 1,000 vehicles starting at 9 a.m.

For health and safety reasons, no one will be allowed to “walk up” or receive food on foot. Individuals and families who are not able to arrive by car should call the Food Bank at 1-866-350-FOOD (3663) or CLICK HERE for a food distribution site near their home.

WHEN: Friday, April 10, 2020 from 9 a.m. until all of the food is gone

Southwestern College, 900 Otay Lakes Rd, Chula Vista, CA 91910 – All attendees’ vehicles must enter from East H street.

ATTENDEES MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING INCOME GUIDELINES:

This will be a “self-certifying” food distribution. Attendees must verbally “self-certify” that they meet the income guidelines to receive food assistance (chart below).

FOOD ITEMS THAT WILL BE DISTRIBUTED:

Food items that will be distributed include: UHT milk, peanut butter, brown rice, canned peaches, canned green beans, canned peas, canned tomato sauce, canned vegetable soup, canned cream of mushroom soup, canned salmon, canned pork, a box of cereal, pecan pieces (1 lb.), and a bag of potatoes. In addition, attendees will receive a family-pack of toilet paper, paper towels, and baby wipes.
