What is a
Virtual Food Drive?
Our Virtual Food Drive makes it easy to directly support the San Diego Food Bank. Nowhere to display red barrels and collect canned food? No problem! Donors can make monetary donations through a custom donation page to fund the Food Bank’s general operations and food purchasing.
Easily donate through your custom donation page or Online Store. Our virtual options provide flexibility in how supporters can contribute to our mission of providing hunger-relief to individuals and families in need.
Why use the
Virtual Food Drive?
The answer is simple – to get more food to those facing hunger in our community faster!
By hosting a Virtual Food Drive, you will save the Food Bank the time and resources incurred through a physical food drive. With every dollar, the Food Bank can provide two meals.
Your donations will help us purchase more of our most-needed food items in bulk such as canned meats, canned vegetables, canned fruits, peanut butter, oatmeal and cereal.
Who can set up a Virtual Food Drive?
Anyone can host a Virtual Food Drive! Many of our corporate and foundation partners create “customized” Virtual Food Drives that incorporate their logo, employee matches, and conduct competitions between departments.
Some individual donors go the extra mile by using our Virtual Food Drive tool to create their own fundraising events around special occasions such as birthdays, weddings, bar or bat mitzvahs. Once we provide you with the link, share it with co-workers, subscribers, friends and family to help you reach your goal!
There are two different ways to host a Virtual Food Drive
Peer-to-Peer Fundraising
This option is best suited for promoting fundraising efforts externally on behalf of the San Diego Food Bank.
Our fundraising platform makes the checkout process quick and easy as it accepts payments through credit card, Apple Wallet, PayPal, Google Pay, and Venmo.
Your donation page is customizable to include your logo and a short message. You can also set a goal to easily track your fundraiser's progress.
Online Store
This option is best suited for promoting fundraising efforts internally on behalf of the San Diego Food Bank. Our Online Store allows donors to select and purchase food items securely online to donate to the San Diego Food Bank.
Your Virtual Food Drive is customizable to include your logo and company information. You can also track donations on a separate custom link.
