The Food Bank relies on the community for the expertise and resources needed to serve our client population. Our strength is drawn from the community leaders who support our mission.
The Food Bank’s Leadership Council was created for those who are passionate about giving back and want to help the Food Bank fight hunger in our community. They actively work as ambassadors, advocates and/or askers, depending on their individual skills and comfort.
The Leadership Council offers opportunities for members to support the many campaigns, projects and events that are vital to our hunger-relief programs.
Leadership Council members come from all sectors of the community to provide highlevel support through the council’s many working committees.
How the Leadership Council Works
The Food Bank’s Leadership Council meets quarterly as a whole, and operates through a committee-based structure. Leadership Council members participate on one or more of the following committees:

BLUES FESTIVAL COMMITTEE | Chair: Michael Kinsman
This group is responsible for supporting the Food Bank’s annual Blues Festival including recruiting volunteers, promoting tickets sales, assisting with sponsorship cultivation and raising awareness about the event in the community.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH COMMITTEE | Chair: Paul Amberg
A group of ambassadors for the Food Bank, hosting information tables at community events and fundraisers.
CORPORATE OUTREACH COMMITTEE | Chair: Sara Barthel
An active team of leaders who commit to strategically reaching out to their business contacts, inviting them to learn more about the Food Bank.
CULINARY COMMITTEE | Chair: Jan Borkum
Comprised of representatives from the food service and hospitality industry, the committee engages the industry in supporting community events and fundraising campaigns that support the Food Bank.
GALA COMMITTEE | Co-Chairs: Cheryl Floros and Jeannie Johnson Bolinger
This committee is responsible for producing the Food Bank’s annual Gala, which includes procuring auction items, promoting ticket and table sales, assisting with sponsorship cultivation and raising awareness about the event in the community.
GOLF COMMITTEE | Chair: Brian Krause
This group is responsible for producing the Food Bank’s annual Golf Tournament, which includes procuring auction items, promoting registration, assisting with sponsorship cultivation and raising awareness about the event in the community.
NORTH COUNTY OUTREACH COMMITTEE | Chair: Sandra Rabourne
This team helps to advance the mission of the North County Food Bank, primarily through outreach and event planning for North County region.
All Leadership Council members demonstrate their commitment through an annual membership donation.
