Delta Dental Matches Online Donations Providing Nearly 1.4 Million Meals to Families in Need

Dental insurance provider Delta Dental launched a matching campaign in support of the San Diego Food Bank last December to double the impact of donations.
Since the pandemic reached the San Diego community in mid-March of 2020, the San Diego Food Bank and our North County Food Bank chapter went from providing emergency food assistance to 350,000 people every month to nearly 600,000. The Food Bank team, along with our network of more than 500 nonprofit partners, continues to work hard behind-the-scenes to enhance existing programs and distributions while continuing to innovate into the New Year.
Our nonprofit organization relies on the generosity of community partners like Delta Dental to be able to continue our mission and fund our hunger-relief programs.
"The San Diego Food Bank is grateful to Delta Dental for reaching out to offer their support during the pandemic, especially when the demand for our services are the highest we have seen in our 44-year history," said Food Bank President and CEO, James Floros.
"Typically, the Food Bank is able to leverage every dollar into five meals; however, with the help of Delta Dental's matching gift, we were able to double the number of meals one dollar provides to families here in San Diego County from five to 10."
Delta Dental matched donations dollar-for-dollar up to $100,000 through their Delta Dental Community Care Foundation to raise vital funds for the San Diego Food Bank's COVID-19 Response Programs.
With the help of Food Bank donors and supporters, the match was met providing nearly 1.4 million meals to local families in need of access to nutritious food.
