Food Bank Awarded Nonprofit of the Year by Assemblymember Brian Maienschein of the 77th Assembly District

This month the San Diego Food Bank had the honor of being recognized as Nonprofit of the Year for California’s 77th Assembly District. During the celebration of California Nonprofits Day at the State Assembly, Assemblymember Brian Maienschein presented San Diego Food Bank President and CEO, James A. Floros, with this prestigious award on the floor of the State Assembly.
The San Diego Food Bank is the largest hunger-relief organization in San Diego County in conjunction with our North County Food Bank chapter based in San Marcos. In total, the Food Bank distributed over 30 million pounds of food last year, and we serve an average of 350,000 people every month.
Commenting on the award, Assemblymember Brian Maienschein said,
“The San Diego Food Bank has served an important role in our community through the years, and I truly appreciate their work providing food and other resources to those who are in need in the San Diego region.”
The work of the Food Bank would not be possible without the generosity of donors, our team of dedicated volunteers and over 500 nonprofit distribution partners. Food Bank CEO, James Floros, said,
