This summer, please help the San Diego Food Bank and our North County Food Bank chapter feed children living in poverty and families impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic during our School’s Out, Hunger’s Not – COVID-19 Summer Food Drive.

Right now, tens of thousands of parents with children across San Diego County have lost their jobs and are struggling to put food on the table. In May, the local unemployment rate skyrocketed to an all-time high of 30%.

To compound this crisis, tens of thousands of children living in poverty rely on free school meals Monday through Friday, but when school is closed, these children stop receiving free meals and face hunger at home.

Here’s How You Can Help

Donate Nonperishable Food Items at Your Local Albertsons or Vons

During the month of July, please donate nonperishable food items at any San Diego County Albertsons or Vons supermarket location. Look for our famous red food drive barrels located at the front of the store.

Not sure what to donate? Our most needed food items, include:
– canned meats
– canned fish
– canned vegetables
– canned fruits
– canned soups & stews
– peanut butter
– cereal
– oatmeal

Donate Securely Online

Make your donations go even further with an online donation. For every $1 donated, the Food Bank can provide 5 meals to families in need.

Together, we can fight hunger and feed hope this summer!
